Anthem New Year Celebration When: Thursday, Dec 31, 2020 Time: Arrive no later than 18:00 and stay until about 21:30 Location: Anthem School, 41020 N Freedom Way, Phoenix, AZ 85086 (map) Description: The Anthem Community Council is having a fireworks display to celebrate New Year's Eve. Due to COVID, residents are being asked to enjoy the display by watching from home. In anticipation of people coming to the park anyway, CERT will be there to support the event. CERT's role will be to setup the trailer as a command post and depending on the weather, also as a comfort station for firefighters and launch staff. Some volunteers are needed to support the trailer while others are needed to patrol the park in the event of an EMS emergency. Arrive by 18:00 to assist with setup, the 20-minute fireworks display begins at 20:00. Plan on being done around 21:30. COVID precautions must be followed, you will be required to wear a mask. Anticipate cold weather so dress warmly, but be sure your uniform is displayed on the outside. Bring your own dinner, snacks and drinks, there is not an option to purchase anything there. CPR Training When: Tuesday, March 9, 2021 from 6pm – 10pm ![]() Where: Daisy Mountain Fire Station 143, 35050 S. Old Black Canyon Hwy Black Canyon City, AZ 85324 (map) Description: CPR and AED for the Community and Workplace, utilizing the American Safety and Health Institute curriculum and certified instructors. This class covers adult, child and infant CPR; adult, child and infant AED; and adult, child and infant choking. Class format is partially lecture and partially practical (hands-on). Completion of the course requires students to demonstrate proficiency on mannequins while on the floor and a short written test. Satisfactory completion of the course entitles you to a certificate valid for two years from date of completion. Registration is required. Space is limited (min: 8 students; max 25 students). The cost is $25 per student, due at the start of class, payable with exact change or check made payable to Daisy Mountain Fire Department, but is free to DMFD Citizen Corps Volunteers. NOTE: If you require CPR for the Healthcare Professional this is not the correct class for you. Register for the event. First Aid Training When: Tuesday, March 23, 2021 from 6pm – 10pm Where: Daisy Mountain Fire Station 143, 35050 S. Old Black Canyon Hwy Description: Basic First Aid utilizing the American Safety and Health Institute curriculum and certified instructors. This class covers treatment for a wide range of sudden injuries and sudden illnesses. Class format is partially lecture and partially practical (hands-on). Completion of the course requires students to demonstrate proficiency of skills presented in class and a short written test. Satisfactory completion of the course entitles you to a certificate valid for two years from date of completion. Registration is required. Space is limited (min: 8 students; max 25 students). The cost is $25 per student, due at the start of class, payable with exact change or check made payable to Daisy Mountain Fire Department, but is free to DMFD Citizen Corps Volunteers.
