Shopping Extravaganza at Outlets at Anthem

Where: Outlets at Anthem, 4250 W Anthem Way, Phoenix, AZ 85086
When: Saturday, October 6, 2018
Description: This limited-admission charity fundraising event features one-day-only offers, a special shopper lunch, wine, dessert bar and opportunities to win several fantastic prizes, including more than $25,000 worth of gift cards from Outlets at Anthem’s participating retailers. The proceeds of this event benefits 25 Phoenix based charitable and non-profit organizations. Last year’s event raised more than $40,000 for well-deserving organizations in the Valley. DMFDCC has partnered with the Daisy Mountain Firefighters Charities for this event. We need to sell 50 tickets and need all volunteers to help with our portion of the partnership for the event.

Important Dates: 
Tuesday, September 14th - Deadline to sign up to volunteer during the event on Sign-Up Genius
Monday, September 21st - Last day  to drop off items for the Silent Auction with completed paperwork
Tuesday, October 2nd - Bag stuffing 10am to 2pm - Suite #360, register via Sign-Up Genius
Thursday, September 22nd - Last day to drop-off to Todd
Saturday, October 6th - Event Day - Volunteers needed, register via Sign-Up Genius

Anthem Autumnfest
When: Sat Oct 20, 2018 10am – 5pm
      &    Sun Oct 21, 2018 10am – 4pm

Description: Anthem residents and visitors from far and wide will come together to celebrate all things fall at Autumnfest. This family-friendly event celebrates the season with fall-flavored festivities including arts & crafts vendors, carnival rides, pumpkin picking and live entertainment. Arrive by 9:00 am to assist with setup and plan to stay for an hour after the event for tear down. We will be the event first aid station, offer free blood pressure checks and talk to visitors about disaster preparedness. Please wear your CERT uniform. You may bring lunch and snacks or purchase them there.

Trunk & Treat

Description: Trunk & Treat, hosted by the Anthem Area Chamber of Commerce. The actual event is 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, arrive at 3:00 pm for setup and stay until about 8:00 pm for breakdown. DMFD CERT will provide event first aid. Please wear your CERT uniform. You can bring food, drinks and snacks. Its unknown if you can buy food and drinks there.

Veterans Parades and Community Charity Picnic
When: Sat November 3, 2018 - Two Parades plus a Community Charity Picnic all the same day. We need your help.

Daisy Mountain Veterans Parade in Anthem 
Time: 8 am to Noon 
Where: TENTATIVE Staging Area, Cross of Christ Church, 39808 N. Gavilan Peak Pkwy (far east parking lot), Anthem, AZ 85086 NOTE: This staging area is subject to change up to a week prior to the event. 
Description: Please arrive by 8:00 am to help setup and decorate the Mule, Suburban and trailer. The parade starts promptly at 10:00 am, rain or shine. Feel free to bring drinks and snacks with you, access to commercially prepared food will be limited. Wear your CERT uniform. After the parade, we will return to the staging area to remove the decorations and load everything. Parking is on your own, you will not be able to park in the staging area. 


Community Charity Picnic 
Time: Setup-10-11:30 
          The event is from 11:30 am to 3:30 pm 
          Clean up is from 3:30 pm to 4:00 pm 
Where: Anthem Community Park 
            Softball Field #4

Description: This is event sponsored by the Anthem Young Professionals and the Daisy Mountain Veterans to benefit Drive By Blessings. The event features a cornhole tournament. CERT will provide and staff an EMS tent for the event. 


VFW Post 1796 Parade in Black Canyon City
 
Time: 13:00 to 17:30 
Where: Meet at Fire Station 146, 3116 W New River Rd, New River AZ 85087 (map
Description: Please arrive by 13:00, we'll all ride together in the Suburban to Black Canyon City. Check-in is from 13:00 to 14:30, and the parade starts promptly at 15:00. Since decorations from the morning parade can't stay on the vehicles during travel, we'll need to redecorate while in staging prior to the start. Feel free to bring drinks and snacks with you, access to commercially prepared food will be limited. Wear your CERT uniform. After the parade, we'll stop to remove decorations for travel then return to Fire Station 146 to put the trailer away.

Parade registration: Two to six people are needed for each parade.  
Picnic registration: Two to four people are needed and at least two people must possess current CPR and First Aid credentials.

CPR Training
When: Thursday, November 8, 2018 from 6pm – 10pm
Where: Daisy Mountain Fire Department, 43814 N New River Road, New River, AZ 85087 (map)
Description: CPR and AED for the Community and Workplace, utilizing the American Safety and Health Institute curriculum and certified instructors. Class format is partially lecture and partially practical (hands-on). Completion of the course requires students to demonstrate proficiency on mannequins while on the floor and a short written test. Satisfactory completion of the course entitles you to a certificate valid for two years from date of completion. Registration is required. Space is limited (min: 8 students; max 25 students). The cost is $25 per student, due at the start of class, payable with exact change or check made payable to Daisy Mountain Fire Department, but is free to DMFD Citizen Corps Volunteers. NOTE: If you require CPR for the Healthcare Professional this is not the correct class for you.

First Aid Training

Description: Basic First Aid utilizing the American Safety and Health Institute curriculum and certified instructors. Class format is partially lecture and partially practical (hands-on). Christmas Tree Lighting at Outlets at Anthem 
When: Sat November 17, 2018 
Where: Outlets at Anthem, 4250 W Anthem Way, Phoenix, AZ 85086
Description: The tallest Christmas Tree in the Nation will be lit and there will be FREE concerts and prize giveaways. Arrive by 4:00 pm to assist with setup and plan to stay until approximately 11 pm. We will provide event first aid station at two different locations. Please wear your CERT uniform. Traditionally the mall has provided us with food but you may bring your own dinner and snacks, or purchase them there.

Prickly Pedal Mountain Bike Event

When: Saturday, January 19, 2019 - 6:30 am – 11:30 am 

Where: Kunasek Trailhead along the Spear S trail at Linda Lane and New River Rd. LOCATION IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE.

Description: Featuring an approximately 40-mile course, the Prickly Pedal is a showcase of Maricopa Trail diversity. Aggressive ascents and descents, grinding it out on the flats, rocks, water, sand, mud, and roller coaster runs are all part of the fun of this challenging course. Beginning in Cave Creek and ending at Lake Pleasant, the course winds through the northern section of the Maricopa Trail. More than 300 riders are expected to participate all of whom will traverse through Anthem and Desert Hills. DMFD CERT's responsibilities will be to provide first aid and assist with accountability for the riders using amateur radio. New this year, we will also be staffing a feed (refreshment) station and if there are enough volunteers we will staff two. This event will require a lot of manpower, so your help is needed.
