2016 Required DMFD Citizen Corps Training
 
When: October 1 through December 31, 201XXXXXXX
Where: Please visit the Training page of the website for links to the training modules, (scroll down to REQUIRED TRAINING).
Description: Required Training must be satisfactorily completed to maintain affiliation with the Daisy Mountain Fire Department Citizen Corps program. Training for the following calendar year, may be started as early as October 1st but must be completed no later than December 31st of the prior year. Failure to complete required training within required time-frames could result in termination from the program. Should you later decide to again become affiliated with the Daisy Mountain Fire Department you will be required to start the entire application process over again. In addition to the training requirement, there is a minimum participation requirement of at least 4 hours a month, averaged over the calendar year.

August is Drowning Impact Awareness Month
Get Prepared with a FREE CPR Class

Description: In partnership with the Drowning Prevention Coalition of Arizona and Salt River ProjectDaisy Mountain Fire & Medical is offering a free CPR and AED class. Utilizing the American Safety and Health Institute's Community and Workplace curriculum and certified instructors, this class is partially lecture and partially practical (hands-on). Completion of the course requires students to demonstrate proficiency on mannequins while on the floor and a short written test. Satisfactory completion of the course entitles you to a certificate valid for two years from date of 
completion. Registration is required. Space is limited, maximum of twenty students. 

This class will emphasize the ABC's of Water Safety 
A-Adult Supervision - The adult must watch swimmers with their eyes and not be doing anything else! 
B-Barrier - A locked fence around a pool or a closed lid on a toilet or a closed door leading to the bathroom.
C- Classes - Take a class so you are better prepared and know what to do in case of an emergency. Swim Lessons, CPR training, and Babysitter training are all great classes.

Anthem Days

Description: Anthem residents and visitors from across the Valley enjoy perfect weather and the premier showcase of the community. This free, family-friendly event includes a business expo (an Anthem Days signature highlight that showcases the business community and its products and services), craft vendors, egg hunt, carnival, food vendors and live entertainment. The event is open to the public. Admission and parking are free. CERT will be providing First Aid and discussing Disaster Preparedness with visitors. Wear your CERT uniform. You can either bring food and drinks or purchase onsite.

Anthem Independence Day Celebration

Description: Thousands of people Valley-wide come together to celebrate the annual Anthem Independence Day Celebration. August is Drowning Impact Awareness Month
Daisy Mountain Firefighters will be holding 6 Drowning Awareness Events. Come visit!

Description: Drowning is a top cause of injury-related death for Arizona children. Take steps to prevent drownings in the high-risk month of August.

  1. During family swim time, assign a constant, capable adult supervisor ("Water Watcher").
  2. Keep your pool fence locked when it's not time to swim.
  3. Make sure children can't go over, under or through the fence.
  4. Teach children to swim at the appropriate age.
  5. Keep your CPR skills up to date.

Learn CCC (Continuous Chest Compression CPR)

Learn How to Save A Life!

Description: Daisy Mountain Fire Department is conducting FREE CCC (Continuous Chest CompressionCPR classes. This one-hour course uses the Arizona Department of Health Services SHARE curriculum and does not require mouth-to-mouth contact. Class is partially lecture and partially hands-on. No certificate is issued. Cardiac arrests are common and anyone can learn CPR. Many people feel helpless and don’t know what to do. This course will teach you what action to take. It may help you save the life of someone you know. 
Most cardiac arrests happen at home. When performed correctly, CPR can more than double a victim’s chance of survival.

Description: Presented in partnership with Daisy Mountain Fire Department Citizen Corps, and the Arizona Repeater Association, this class will familiarize students with Ham radios and help you prepare for the FCC Technician Class License exam. NOTE: Morse code is no longer a requirement. This is the ideal class if you are interested in learning more about Amateur (Ham) Radio, becoming a licensed operator, or if Ham radio is part of your disaster preparedness communication plan.

 Medieval Merriment is a fun packed three day event which transports its visitors back to days of yore. Christmas Tree Lighting at Outlets at Anthem

Description: The tallest Christmas Tree in the Nation will be lit and there will be FREE concerts and prize giveaways. Arrive by 4:00 pm to assist with setup and plan to stay until approximately 11 pm. We will be the event first aid station. Please wear your CERT uniform. Traditionally the mall has provided us with Subway sandwiches but you may bring your own dinner and snacks, or purchase them there.

Family Night at Outlets at Anthem

Shopping Extravaganza at Outlets at Anthem

When: Saturday, October 6, 2018
Description: This limited-admission charity fundraising event features one-day-only offers, a special shopper lunch, wine, dessert bar and opportunities to win several fantastic prizes, including more than $25,000 worth of gift cards from Outlets at Anthem’s participating retailers. The proceeds of this event benefits 25 Phoenix based charitable and non-profit organizations. Last year’s event raised more than $40,000 for well-deserving organizations in the Valley. DMFDCC has partnered with the Daisy Mountain Firefighters Charities for this event. We need to sell 50 tickets and need all volunteers to help with our portion of the partnership for the event.

Prickly Pedal Mountain Bike Event
 
When: Saturday, January 20, 2018 - 

6:30 am – 10:30 am 


Description: Featuring an approximately 40-mile course, the Prickly Pedal is a showcase of Maricopa Trail diversity. Aggressive ascents and descents, grinding it out on the flats, rocks, water, sand, mud, and roller coaster runs are all part of the fun of this challenging course. Beginning in Cave Creek and ending at Lake Pleasant, the course winds through the northern section of the Maricopa Trail. More than 300 riders are expected to participate all of whom will traverse through Anthem and Desert Hills. DMFD CERT's responsibilities will be to provide first aid and assist with accountability for the riders using amateur radio. This event will require a lot of manpower so your help is needed.

Veterans Parades and Community Charity Picnic

When: Sat November 3, 2018 - Daisy Mountain Veterans Parade and Community Picnic all the same day. We need your help.


Daisy Mountain Veterans Parade in Anthem 
Time: 8 am to Noon 
Where: TENTATIVE Staging Area, Cross of Christ Church, 39808 N. Gavilan Peak Pkwy (far east parking lot), Anthem, AZ 85086 NOTE: This staging area is subject to change up to a week prior to the event. 
Description: Please arrive by 8:00 am to help setup and decorate the Mule, Suburban and trailer. The parade starts promptly at 10:00 am, rain or shine. Feel free to bring drinks and snacks with you, access to commercially prepared food will be limited. Wear your CERT uniform. After the parade, we will return to the staging area to remove the decorations and load everything. Parking is on your own, you will not be able to park in the staging area. Feel free to volunteer at the picnic after the trailer has been demobilized.


Community Charity Picnic

          Clean up is from 3:30 pm to 4:00 pm

Veterans Day Ceremony

Description: CERT's sole mission is to provide first aid. Arrive by 7:00 am to assist with setup and plan to stay for an hour after the event for tear down. The actual event begins at 9:00 am and is expected to last approximately 2 hours. Wear your CERT uniform. We will be working out of a tent without the CERT trailer. Bring lunch and snacks because you'll be unable to leave to purchase them.
