Class is partially lecture and partially hands-on. No certificate will be issued. Cardiac arrests are common and severe bleeding can be controlled. Many people feel helpless and don’t know what to do. Most cardiac arrests happen at home. When performed correctly, CPR can more than double a victim’s chance of survival. A person who is bleeding can die from blood loss within five minutes. This course will teach you what action to take. It may help you save the life of someone you know. Prickly Pedal Mountain Bike Event When: Saturday, January 19, 2019 - 6:30 am – 11:30 amWhere: Kunasek Trailhead along the Spear S trail at Linda Lane and New River Rd. LOCATION IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE. Description: Featuring an approximately 40-mile course, the Prickly Pedal is a showcase of Maricopa Trail diversity. Aggressive ascents and descents, grinding it out on the flats, rocks, water, sand, mud, and roller coaster runs are all part of the fun of this challenging course. Beginning in Cave Creek and ending at Lake Pleasant, the course winds through the northern section of the Maricopa Trail. More than 300 riders are expected to participate all of whom will traverse through Anthem and Desert Hills. DMFD CERT's responsibilities will be to provide first aid and assist with accountability for the riders using amateur radio. New this year, we will also be staffing a feed (refreshment) station and if there are enough volunteers we will staff two. This event will require a lot of manpower, so your help is needed. Description: Please arrive by 8:00 am to help setup and decorate the Mule, Suburban and trailer. The parade starts promptly at 10:00 am, rain or shine.
