Training

The training is divided into three groups: Elective
Optional and Required

All volunteers who are affiliated with the Daisy Mountain Fire Department Citizen Corps program are classified by a typing matrix. Type 5 is the basic affiliation level, requiring the least amount of training and commitment, whereas Type 1 requires the greatest. The training standards for the different Types fulfill requirements established by the Daisy Mountain Fire Department, Arizona State Citizen Corps Council, and the Arizona Division of Emergency Management.

Some training is a one time requirement, other training has an annual requirement, and still other training has a periodic requirement. All training requirements are based on a calendar year. Before beginning any curriculum please check for prerequisites and renewal requirements.

Training curriculum usually works well from smart-phones, tablets, and computers, but there are definite differences. The best experience will be found using a desktop or laptop PC running Microsoft Windows and Google Chrome browser unless noted otherwise.

From time-to-time, other organizations share training opportunities that they offer. Please check the calendar and the bottom of this page for more information.

The Emergency Management Institute (EMI) offers self-paced courses designed for people who have emergency management responsibilities and the general public. All are offered free-of-charge to those who qualify for enrollment. FEMA’s Independent Study Program offers courses that support the nine mission areas identified by the National Preparedness Goal.
